Step 1: Prepare Your Car
Before you begin, make sure your car is clean and dry. You don't want any dirt or debris to interfere with the clay bar's ability to remove contaminants.
Step 2: Break Off a Piece of Clay
Break off a small piece of the clay bar, about the size of a golf ball. Knead it in your hand until it's soft and pliable.
Step 3: Spray Lubricant on the Surface
Spray the surface of the car with a clay bar lubricant. This will help the clay bar glide smoothly over the surface, preventing it from sticking or scratching your car.
Step 4: Gently Rub the Clay Bar on the Surface
Gently rub the clay bar over the surface of the car. Use light pressure and move in straight lines. Don't use circular motions, as this can create swirl marks.
Step 5: Check the Clay Bar
Check the clay bar frequently to make sure it's clean. If it becomes dirty or starts to stick, fold it over and knead it again to expose a clean surface.
Step 6: Wipe Away Residue
After you've finished using the clay bar, wipe away any residue with a clean microfiber towel. You may need to use a clay bar lubricant to remove any remaining residue.
Step 7: Apply Wax or Sealant
After you've finished using the clay bar, apply a layer of wax or sealant to protect your car's finish.
